4 England players set to fly back home in middle of IPL

Moeen Ali: The all-rounder was handed his IPL debut by RCB only last night. He may not find a place in the playing XI in the first Test match but has to leave with the rest to join the camp.

The situation is set to change from next year, as IPL will be inducted into the ICC international calendar, which means no international matches will be scheduled during the course of the tournament.

Here is the list of players set to fly back home in middle of IPL.

Ben Stokes: The IPL’s most expensive for the second successive year, is an integral part of the England side. He is all set to make a comeback into the Test side and is certain to leave next week.

Stokes’ absence may certainly affect Rajasthan Royal’s chances of making it to the play-offs, though he has not been in the best of forms.

Mark Wood: The right-arm fast bowler is also a Test regular. He had played the initial few matches for Chennai Super Kings but has been benched since then.

Chris Woakes: A regular in the RCB side for the first few matches, Woakes now finds himself out of the playing IPL after a string of disappointing performances. However, he is a regular member of the England Test side and will have to travel back.

For the first time in this season’s IPL, foreign players are set to leave for their international commitments.

This year had been an exception, with no international matches scheduled during the first half. This however, is set to change from next week.

As many as four England players are set to fly back home for the two-match Pakistan Test series against Pakistan starting from May 24.

The ECB will in all probability recall all its players one week prior to the Test series, which means that the players will have to be in England by May 17- which is also the last week of IPL's league stage.

Various franchises are set to bear the brunt of this as England players had been a hot pick this season. There are 12 England players taking part in this season’s IPL.

For the last ten years, IPL franchises had to deal with mid-season pullouts from their foreign recruits because of their international commitments.
