Badrinath-Kedarnath Receives Heavy Snowfall Ahead Of Char Dham Yatra. See Pics

The trek route to the Himalayan temple, which is scheduled to open to devotees on April 25, was clogged by fresh snowfall in Kedarnath and nearby areas.

According to officials, preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra were hindered by fresh snowfall on the peaks surrounding Badrinath and Kedarnath on Thursday, while the lower regions were hit by intermittent rain. Temperatures plummeted in the Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts, where Badrinath and Kedarnath are located, as a result of snow, rain, and icy winds.

The trek route to the Himalayan temple, which is scheduled to open to devotees on April 25, was clogged by fresh snowfall in Kedarnath and nearby areas. On April 27, Badrinath will reopen to pilgrims, and the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open on April 22.

Officials are worried about the fresh snowfall on the way to the temples as the Char Dham yatra begins soon.

According to Surendra Singh Rawat, a Disaster Management Authority official, the trek route to the well-known temple has once more become covered in fresh snow near the Bhairav glacier.

He stated that laborers' efforts to remove the snow from the route for the convenience of pilgrims are being hampered by inclement weather. However, snow-clearing activity will be continued when the snowfall stops, he said.

According to the district administration, Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh's Thursday visit to the Chamoli district was also postponed due to inclement weather.

He was scheduled to participate in a function being held at an intermediate college in the remote Nainisain area of the Chamoli district.
