ZPM Leader Lalduhoma Takes Oath As Mizoram Chief Minister

ZPM leader Lalduhoma took the oath to office of the Chief Minister of Mizoram on Friday.

Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Mizoram. Along with Lalduhoma, 11 other party leaders will also take oath as ministers today at the Raj Bhavan where Mizo National Front leader and outgoing Chief Minister Zoramthanga were present.

All MNF MLAs including the legislature party leader Lalchhandama Ralte were present at the event. Former Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla was also present there.

Lalduhoma met the Governor of the state yesterday and staked claim to form the government in the state. After meeting the governor, he said, "We talked about the formation of the new government. He had asked me to form government which will be done on Friday and next week we'll have the first session. We are very happy and were very honoured by the Governor. Our priority is to buy agriculture products and we have selected four items for that," as reported by the Mint.

ZPM secured a decisive victory in the recently held polls and defeated the reigning Mizo National Front (MNF). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress weren't able to catch up and secured just two and one seat, respectively.

ZPM media cell general secretary Eddy Zosangliana earlier said that the Val Upa Council (An advisory body of the party) met Lalduhoma on Wednesday to decide the formation of the council of ministers, the Mint reported. Mizoram can have 12 ministers including the Chief Minister in the 40-member assembly.

After forming the government, the Chief Minister promised that his party would make a resource mobilization team for financial reforms. He said, “Mizoram is facing financial crises... That is what we are going to inherit from the outgoing government...We are going to fulfill our commitment... Financial reform is necessary, and for that, we are going to make a resource mobilization team," as reported by the Mint.
