NTPC DGM Shot Dead In Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, 6 Detained

The reason behind the murder is believed to be restrictions implemented by him in the coal department to curb extortion. A probe is underway.

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Deputy General Manager Kumar Gaurav was shot dead in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants. Kumar was the DGM of the Dispatch Department at NTPC's Keredari coal mines project. The gunmen are on the run and the police have launched a search operation to nab them.

Later in the day, police detained six people for interrogation in connection with the murder of Kumar Gaurav, Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Kumar Singh told news agency PTI.

The incident took place at around 9:30 AM near Fatah Chowk under the Katkamdag Police Station limits when Kumar was headed to his Keredari office from his quarters in Hazaribagh town on Saturday morning.

The NTPC official was rushed to the hospital after being fired upon, but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The reason behind the murder is believed to be restrictions implemented by him in the coal department to curb extortion.
