NTPC DGM Shot Dead In Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, 6 Detained
The reason behind the murder is believed to be restrictions implemented by him in the coal department to curb extortion. A probe is underway.

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Deputy General Manager Kumar Gaurav was shot dead in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants. Kumar was the DGM of the Dispatch Department at NTPC's Keredari coal mines project. The gunmen are on the run and the police have launched a search operation to nab them.
Later in the day, police detained six people for interrogation in connection with the murder of Kumar Gaurav, Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Kumar Singh told news agency PTI.
The incident took place at around 9:30 AM near Fatah Chowk under the Katkamdag Police Station limits when Kumar was headed to his Keredari office from his quarters in Hazaribagh town on Saturday morning.
The NTPC official was rushed to the hospital after being fired upon, but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The reason behind the murder is believed to be restrictions implemented by him in the coal department to curb extortion.

According to reports, the official was seated in the front seat of the vehicle with two other passengers in the rear. The motorcycle-borne attackers intercepted his SUV and opened fire targeting Kumar.
"The NTPC official, who hailed from Nalanda in Bihar, was immediately taken to a private hospital where the doctor declared him dead," Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Kumar Singh told PTI.
Kumar's body has been trasnferred to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem where NTPC officials gathered in large numbers, Times Of India reported.
