Another Mass Stabbing In Germany: Six Injured In Knife Attack On Bus In Siegen

A 32-year-old German woman stabbed six people on a bus in Siegen, Germany. Three victims are in critical condition. The motive is still being investigated, but police have ruled out terrorism.

In yet another mass stabbing in Germany, at least six people were wounded after a woman started attacking people with a knife in a bus on its way to the city festival in Siegen on Friday evening. The suspect, a 32-year-old German national, was reportedly arrested after the attack.

Three of six of the victims injured in the attack are in life-threatening condition, German publication Deutsche Welle reported quoting authorities.

As per the report, around 40 people were on the bus travelling to a city festival at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, authorities are probing the motive behind the crime.

Asserting that there were no indications that it was a terrorist attack, police have appealed to citizens to "not to spread false reports" on social networks or other channels.

As per a report by Germany's Bild tabloid, the attacker may have been suffering from mental health issues.

Growing Knief Crime In Germany

The incident comes a week after three people were killed and eight others were seriously injured in a deadly knife attack at a festival in the city of Solingen in Germany. The incident shook the country and forced the government to announce changes to security and asylum policies. The suspect is a 26-year-old Syrian man who was previously due for deportation to Bulgaria. The man has suspected links to the Islamic State group.

Following the incident, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government imposed new restrictions on carrying knives in public places. It also announced curbing benefits for some illegal migrants.

On Tuesday, police shot dead a man suspected of attacking passersby with knives in the western town of Moers near Solingen.
