Tamil Nadu Extends Lockdown For Another Week With No Additional Relaxations, Check Guidelines

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the Covid-19 lockdown to curb the spread of increasing coronavirus cases in the state till August 9.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin today (July 30) extended the ongoing lockdown in the state till August 9 without any further relaxations. 

Extending the curfew with existing relaxations, the CM has directed District Collectors and the police to take stern steps to implement the guidelines issued by the government to control the spread of COVID-19 cases in the state.

CM instructed the District Collectors and the police that they can take steps that help stop the spread of new infections in the state and if needed they can also conduct sealing areas if people continue to gather in large numbers.

Stalin also requested people not to leave their houses unnecessarily and maintain social distancing to prevent the infection from spreading further.

On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh govt has extended the night curfew in the state by two weeks till August 14. The curfew will remain imposed between 10 pm to 6 am.

Meanwhile, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu have recorded a spike in new Covid cases on Thursday (July 29), taking India’s daily cases to around 45,000 which is the highest in 22 days. Kerala registered 22,064 fresh cases yesterday contributing over 50% of India’s new cases in the last two days.
