Mumbai University To Conduct Final Year Exams Between July 1-30; More Details Inside

Uday Samant, state minister for higher and technical education on Thursday said that all final year students will be called up for examination between July 1 and 30 while all other year students will be promoted to the next academic year.

The long-continued coronvirus pandemic has adversely hit the eduaction system, with  students enrolled in final year of schools and colleges being the worst-sufferers. Last week, University Grants Commission (UGC) appointed committee released a report suggesting various measures to schools and universities across the country to plan out structure and conduct assessment for final year students. Following the directives, Maharashtra government has taken up similar decision. After weeks of discussion over examination being stalled due to nation-wide lockdown, Uday Samant, state minister for higher and technical education on Thursday cleared the air stating that all final year students will be called up for examination between July 1 and 30 while all other year students will be promoted to the next academic year. ALSO READ: CBSE To Hold Pending Class 10, 12 Board Exams From July 1 To 15: HRD Ministry According to a report by Hindustan Times, Samant in a Facebook live session held on Friday afternoon said that “All university students, except those in the final year of their graduation course, will be promoted to the next academic year by respective universities. Final year students, as of this date, will be appearing for their exams between July 1 and 30." The minister added that final year exam dates will be released soon however, in case lockdown due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation gets extended beyond June 30, the state government hold another meeting between June 20-25 to confirm their next decision on the status of final year examinations. In wake of contagious coronavirus, the central and state government had announced lockdown across the country to curb the spread of the disease. Following the directives, state university had decided to postpone all the exams to be held in April, May and June due to increased infection and lockdown of Corona virus.
