Maruti Wagon R Continues To Be The Most Popular Compact Hatchback
Even though the demand for the Wagon R has gone down, it was still the best-selling car in its segment
Maruti continues to dominate the segment with as many as three offerings in the form of the Wagon R, the Celerio and the Ignis. The other cars in the segment are the Tata Tiago, the Hyundai Santro and the Datsun GO.

Maruti WagonR: Even after witnessing a drop of 24 per cent when comparing the MoM figures, Maruti managed to sell more than 11,000 units of the WagonR.
Maruti Celerio: Another Maruti offering, the Celerio, comes in as the second most popular compact hatchback in August 2019.
Hyundai Santro: The Santro is the worst affected car of the lot when comparing the month-on-month growth, seeing a decline of 38 per cent. Hyundai managed to sell just 3,300 units in August 2019.
Tata Tiago: The Tiago has lost fifty per cent of its market share compared to last year and currently stands at less than 13 per cent. Its MoM figures saw a negative growth by more than 35 per cent.
Maruti Ignis: Sales of the Ignis is dwindling with every passing month, reducing its market share to a mere 5.5 per cent.
Datsun GO: Datsun could manage to sell only 205 units of the GO, making it the least popular compact hatchback here. However, the GO is the only model to witness a positive growth when comparing the month-on-month figures.
