The love story came to light in June when Palakkad police found the 34-year-old M Rahman at Nenmara. Rahman’s family had filed a missing complaint with the police officials after he left the house.
Chennai: A Kerala-based man who had hid his girlfriend in his room for 11 years, married her after a long hassle recently. The marriage took place under the special marriage act at Nenmara sub-registrar’s office in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Wednesday.
The love story came to light in June when Palakkad police officials found the 34-year-old M Rahman at Nenmara. Rahman’s family had filed a missing complaint with the police officials after he left the house in March, according to a report in the Hindu.
The report said that he had allegedly told police that he had relocated to a neighbouring Vithanassery village to live with his lover but the police officials had refused to believe his claims.

According to the report, the preliminary investigation revealed that Rahman ran away with his girlfriend Sajitha who was residing just a few blocks away from his house, in February 2010. Fearing backlash, Rahman had hid her in his room without his family’s knowledge. The couple lived in the small room which lacked basic amenities for almost 11 years.
The report said that Rahman turned his room’s window into a secret exit that they used to step out of the room and he even passed electric shock through the room’s door handle to ensure that his family members did not step inside the room during his absence.
Meanwhile, the report said that police personnel had questioned many people including Rahman when the woman went missing in 2010 but as he continued to live in the same village, he was excluded from the lists of suspects.
