Kerala HC Grants Rs 1.5 Lakh Compensation To 8-Year-Old Girl For Being Humiliated By Pink Police

Pink police officer, Rajitha, accused Jayachandran and his eight-year-old daughter of stealing her mobile phone which was later found inside the police car

New Delhi: Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted a Rs 1.5 lakh compensation to an eight-year-old girl who moved a petition against a Pink Police officer for humiliating her and her father on road for alleged theft. Court also ordered the State Government to give Rs 25,000 as a legal expense.

The High Court also directed the State Government to take disciplinary action against the concerned Pink Police officer, according to ANI news agency.

The eight-year-old girl and her father moved Kerala High Court demanding compensation of Rs 50 lakh from the state government for being humiliated on the road on August 27 in an alleged theft case.

Petitioners were accused of theft while they were standing near a pink police car at Attingal police station. Pink police officer, Rajitha, accused Jayachandran and his eight-year-old daughter of stealing her mobile phone which was later found inside the police car.

Miffed with the incident, both the victims lodged a complaint and sought compensation for being humiliated on road. Police officer Rajitha was later transferred but the petitioners sought compensation.

This in turn became a humiliation for the state government when the High Court has ordered compensation to the petitioners.
