JLR Cars to get dearer from 1 April 2019
Prices of select models will go up by up to 4 per cent
Tata-owned British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has announced a price hike of up to 4 per cent on select models from 1 April 2019. The carmaker has not revealed names of the models affected but has said that the hike is being done to offset the effects of inflation.
Talking about the same, Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL) said: “Jaguar Land Rover in India offers a portfolio of world class products that inspire and excite. This increase in price is purely inflationary and we are certain that the two global iconic brands, Jaguar and Land Rover, will continue to attract existing and new customers.”
Currently, JLR is the only premium carmaker to announce a price hike for the next month. However, we expect its rivals to follow suit in the coming days, before April 1 2019.
Apart from this, JLR is also expected to launch a few new models in India. Land Rover is likely to bring in the second-gen Evoque, which made its global debut back in November 2018. The second-gen SUV has already been spotted testing in India and is expected to go on sale by mid-2019.
Jaguar, meanwhile, is likely to launch the 2019 XE facelift, which debuted in the UK in February 2019. The updated sedan looks sharper than before, thanks to the subtle cosmetic updates, but packs the same engine options as the current model. It is expected to go on sale in India by the end of 2019.
JLR currently has a total of 11 cars in its lineup. Jaguar sells the XE, XF,XJ L, F-PACE and the the F-Type, while Land Rover offers the Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the Discovery, in India.
Here is the current price list of JLR cars (all prices ex-showroom pan-India):
