Irrfan Khan Death: 'Loss To The World Of Cinema,' Says PM Modi; Rahul, Amit Shah, Kejriwal Also Offer Condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the unexpected demise of actor, saying it is a “loss to the world of cinema and theatre” and that “he will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums”.
Earlier on Tuesday, he was rushed to the hospital after he complained of breathing issues and was kept in ICU under observation for colon infection. The actor has been ailing ever since he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor a while back and has been under medical attention for the same. Also, other political leaders, too, including Congress' Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Amit Shah condoled the actor’s untimely death through their twitter handles. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on his twitter, "I’m sorry to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. A versatile & talented actor, he was a popular Indian brand ambassador on the global film & tv stage. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans at this time of grief".Irrfan Khan’s demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his anguish on the death of Irrfan Khan and said, "Anguished over the sad news of Irfan Khan’s demise. He was a versatile actor, who’s art had earned global fame and recognition. Irfan was an asset to our film industry. In him, the nation has lost an exceptional actor and a kind soul. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Wednesday to console the demise of actor Irrfan Khan saying, "Shocked to hear of the demise of Irrfan Khan, one of the most exceptional actors of our time. On the work front, Irrfan Khan was last seen in "Angrezi Medium", last-released Bollywood film before COVID-19 forced the complete shutdown of cinema halls. "Angrezi Medium" ran in theatres for just a day before halls all over India were shut down.Shocked to hear of the demise of Irrfan Khan, one of the most exceptional actors of our time.
