A fire broke out in a multi-storey government office building in Central Kolkata in West Bengal on Thursday. According to PTI, multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot and efforts were underway to douse the fire in the building at Ganesh Chandra Avenue, the city's central business district. As per the report, there were ten fire tenders pressed into service to douse the fire on the fourth floor of the building that houses a division of the state government's Public Health Engineering Department.

The fire was reported at around 10 AM, an official told PTI.

While there were no damage to the property and no casualty was reported, the official said that all the papers and documents were destroyed in the fire.

"None was injured in the fire as the office staff were yet to arrive. We are trying to douse it as quickly as possible. It seems all the documents and papers inside the department have been destroyed in the fire," the official said.
