Bengal Eases Covid-19 Restrictions, Allows Gyms To Operate With 50% Capacity | Details Here

Gyms may remain open with 50 per cent capacity at a time up to 9 pm, provided the staff and users are fully vaccinated, or are RT-PCR negative, as per the latest order.  

New Delhi: The West Bengal government eased Covid-19 restrictions in the state, allowing gyms to operate with 50 per cent capacity, news agency ANI reported.

The additional relaxations will come into effect from Tuesday, according to an order by the West Bengal government dated January 17.

The new order is a continuation to the restrictions and relaxations notified by the government through an order dated January 15.

As per the new guidelines, gyms will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity at a time up to 9 pm provided the staff and users are fully vaccinated, or are RT-PCR negative.  

Also, jatra shall be allowed in a very restricted manner up to 9 pm only with 50 per cent of the capacity in an outdoor venue.

In the case of an indoor venue, the maximum capacity allowed is 200 people, or 50 per cent of the capacity, whichever is lower.

The order said that outdoor shooting for films and TV programmes will be allowed with adherence to physical distancing and Covid appropriate protocols.

Wearing of masks, maintenance of physical distancing, and health and hygiene protocol must be followed at all times, according to the order.

On Monday, West Bengal registered 9,385 new Covid-19 cases, 5,553 less than Sunday's figure. Kolkata accounted for seven deaths and 1,879 cases. The number of active cases decreased by 1,682 in a day to 1,58,623.
