BSF Troops Fire At Pakistani Drone Spotted In Gurdaspur International Border Area, Force It To Return

A Pakistani drone was spotted near International Border in the Gurdaspur area after which a search operation was launched in the area.

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a drone intrusion attempt from Pakistan on Monday after a drone was spotted near International Border in Gurdaspur. The attempt of intrusion was foiled after jawans fired several rounds of bullets and forced it to retract its position by moving back to the Pakistani side.

“Today around 5 am a Pakistani drone was spotted near International Border in the area of BSF's Rosa Post BOP 89 Bn in Gurdaspur,” reported news agency ANI. A search operation by BSF and police is underway.

Earlier in July, a similar Pakistani drone infiltration bid was foiled by the BSF after it was spotted near the International Border in the Kanachak sector of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a PTI report.

Such drone sightings near the border area of Punjab and J&K have witnessed a rise in the last few months. Pakistani drones are mostly used in dropping drugs and weapons inside the Indian territory in a bid to support terrorism. However, the security forces have succeeded in safeguarding the border areas with their alertness and foiling any such plans of infiltration by terrorists.

LeT has set up terror modules for the purpose of collecting and transporting weapons by drones to terrorists in border areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri districts.

Apart from the above incident, another Pakistani drone was spotted by villagers in Mangu Chak village along the Indo-Pakistan international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The drone stayed in the air for around 15 minutes before turning around and heading back toward Pakistan. It was observed at a height of 300 metres, the PTI report stated.

After the incident was reported in the region by residents of Samba's Mangu Chak hamlet, security personnel used a drone to conduct a search operation.
