PM Modi Pays Homage To Former President Pranab Mukherjee On Birth Anniversary

PM Modi recalled that his interactions with the late president Pranab Mukherjee were always "enriching" while paying tribute to him on his birth anniversary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted a heartfelt message on the birth anniversary of the late former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on Monday. PM Modi in his message said the former president’s “statesmanship and intellectual depth shaped the nation's course”. 

"On his birth anniversary, paying homage to Shri Pranab Mukherjee, whose statesmanship and intellectual depth profoundly shaped our nation's course. His insights and leadership were invaluable, and on a personal level, our interactions were always enriching. His dedication and wisdom will forever be a guiding force in our journey towards progress," PM Modi posted on X, formerly Twitter. 

Similarly, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, wrote in an X post, “Remembering the contribution of Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in nation building. 

He was an integral part of national life, and the Congress party for over five decades, and brought in his wisdom, experience and deep understanding of myriad subjects to the various Constitutional positions he held.”

Kharge also quoted Mukherjee as he remembered him. He posted on X, “Peace must be our ideology, progress our horizon ~ Pranab Mukherjee”.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a message wrote that Pranab Mukherjee dedicated his life to the progress of the nation and society is inspiring for the youth. 

“I pay my respects to Bharat Ratna, multidimensional personality, former President of the country, respected Late Pranab Mukherjee on his birth anniversary! Your life dedicated to the progress of the nation and society is inspiring for the youth. You will always live in the hearts of your countrymen through your actions and thoughts”, MP CM posted in Hindi on X. 

Mukherjee held the esteemed position of the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017. Across a political journey spanning five decades, he was a prominent figure within the Congress party, and held various ministerial roles within the Union government.

Before assuming the presidency, Mukherjee served as the Finance Minister from 2009 to 2012.

In recognition of his contributions, he was honoured with India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, in 2019.
