Police Personnel & Councillor Killed In Militant Attack In Kashmir's Sopore Area
According to reports, a police personnel identified as Shafqat Ahmad and a councillor named Riyaz Ahmad lost their lives while another councillor named Shams-ud-din Peer sustained injuries in the attack.

The terrorists opened fire when a municipal council meeting being chaired by Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Fareeda Khan, who is also the BJP’s state secretary, was being held at the Dak Bungalow in Sopore.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off and efforts are on to nab the perpetrators.No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The untoward incident takes place just a day after two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian on Saturday.
