PM Modi's degree is authentic, says DU

New Delhi:  The Delhi University on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BA degree, as circulated by the Bharatiya Janata Party, is authentic. In a clarification made by Delhi University's registrar Tarun Das, it was also said that the degree has all the relevant records relating to Prime Minister Modi's graduation while terming as 'minor error' mention of 1979 in his degree when he passed out a year earlier. The clarification came amid the raging controversy over the Prime Minister's educational qualifications with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continuing to question genuineness of the BA degree. The registrar clarified that Narendra Modi cleared the examination in 1978 and was awarded the degree in 1979, hours after an AAP delegation went to the university seeking details of the degree. Asked about certain discrepancies being alleged by the AAP in his mark sheets and degree certificate, he said, the discrepancies in names in two mark sheets exist in university records as well. Yesterday, BJP president Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had released copies of Prime Minister Modi's BA and MA degrees in response to AAP's allegations.
