Parliament Has Witnessed Healthy Discussion On Ukraine Crisis, Grateful To All MPs: PM Modi

Thanking the MPs, the Prime Minister said that he is grateful to them for sharing their enriching viewpoints.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the debate over the situation in Ukraine and the efforts undertaken by India to bring back its citizens from the trouble-torn country.

Taking to the Twitter handle, Modi said that the Parliament has witnessed a ‘healthy discussion’ on the situation in Ukraine and India’s efforts to bring back the citizens under Operation Ganga.

Thanking the MPs, the Prime Minister said that he is grateful to them for sharing their enriching viewpoints.

“The rich level of debate and the constructive points illustrate how there is bipartisanship when it comes to matters of foreign policy. Such bipartisanship augers well for India at the world stage.”

He further said that it is the collective responsibility of the government to ensure the safety and well-being of the fellow Indian nationals and asserted that the Government of India will leave no stone unturned to protect the citizens in any adverse situation.

Earlier in the day, condemning the civilian killings in Ukraine’s Bucha, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar said that New Delhi supports the call for an independent investigation.

“Many MPs brought up the incident in Bucha and I want to say that we are deeply disturbed by the reports. We strongly condemn the killings which have taken place there,” said Dr Jaishankar in the Lok Sabha on the Ukraine situation, as reported by news agency ANI.

“It's an extremely serious matter and we support the call for an independent investigation,” he added.
