No-trust vote: Sena keeps BJP guessing; Party 'still waiting' for Uddhav's instructions

No-confidence motion: Dismissing the media reports suggesting that the Shiv Sena will vote in favour of the Narendra Modi government during the no-trust vote, Sena's Parliamentary Party leader Anandrao Adsul on Thursday said he has not received any such instructions from the party high command.

NEW DELHI: Dismissing the media reports suggesting that the Shiv Sena will vote in favour of the Narendra Modi government during the no-trust vote, Sena's Parliamentary Party leader Anandrao Adsul on Thursday said he has not received any such instructions from the party high command. Adsul, who represents Amravati constituency in the Lower House, denied that a whip was issued to the Sena MPs to vote against the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition parties. "As of now, I can only say that our MPs will be present in the House tomorrow. Our role will be decided after getting instructions from the party chief Uddhav Thackeray," he said. Earlier in the day, media reports said the Shiv Sena - the most cantankerous member of the BJP-led NDA coalition - will vote in favour of Narendra Modi-led government during the no-trust voting in Lok Sabha on Friday, adding that the party has issued a whip for its MPs to be present during the voting. Prior to this, the party had hinted that it is likely to boycott the no-confidence voting, as per the sources. However, dismissing the reports, the party has made it clear that it will support Narendra Modi government. Notably, there are currently 18 Shiv Sena MPs in Lok Sabha. The no-trust motion was moved by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre on Wednesday. Watch Video- While speaking exclusively to ABP News earlier in the day, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that the final call would be taken by party president Uddhav Thackeray. "We are still discussing. What to do tomorrow will be decided by Uddhav Thackeray. Whoever is commenting on what is our move does not know us well. If our MPs get an opportunity tomorrow, our MPs will speak vociferously," Raut said. Watch Video- Raut while talking to media said that the party said it will speak “when required”. "In democracy, voice of the Opposition should be heard first even if it consists of one person. Even we (Shiv Sena) will speak when it is required. During voting, whatever Uddav Thakachey directs us, we will do," MP said. For the first time in 15 years, the government will face a no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha on Friday. While BJP is confident over getting support from 314 MPs in the Lok Sabha, the Congress debunk the claims that it doesn't have the requisite number of MPs to win the vote. BJP MP Ananth Kumar has claimed that the BJP-led NDA government has the majority support. Speaking to media, Kumar reiterated by saying that Modi government has the majority both inside and outside Parliament.
