Planning To Travel To India? New Rules For International Arrivals From Today Amid Surge In Covid Cases, Check Guidelines

Covid-19 Rules: Passengers seeking exemptions in testing/quarantine protocols in case of death in family should apply on Air Suvidha portal at least 72 hours before boarding.

With four states reporting a fresh surge in coronavirus cases and the mutant virus spreading across countries, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued new rules for international arrivals in India. The new guidelines will come into effect from 11:59 pm from Monday onwards and will be in force till further orders. It’s important to check new rules for international arrivals to become effective from Monday.

  • All international travellers arriving in the country has to mandatorily submit a self-declaration form (SDF) for Covid on the online Air Suvidha portal before their scheduled flight.
  • Secondly, visitors have to upload a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR report conducted within 72 hrs of departure on the online portal of New Delhi airport (http://newdelhiairport.in) with a declaration form stating the authenticity of the report.
  • An undertaking also needs to be uploaded in the portal accepting to abide by Govt rules on testing, institutional & home quarantine.
  • All asymptomatic travellers will be allowed to board after the thermal screening.
  • There is only exception to those arriving without negative report who are travelling in the exigency of death in the family.
  • Passengers seeking exemptions in testing/quarantine protocols in case of death in the family should apply on the Air Suvidha portal. In case of such exemption, travellers shall apply on the online portal at least 72 hours before boarding.
  • The above rules are applicable to international travellers arriving through seaports/land ports but an online registration policy cannot be availed by them.
  • Also, those passengers arriving from/transiting through the United Kingdom, Brazil and South Africa (during the past 14 days) will have to be segregated by the airline in-flight.
  • Remember that self-paid confirmatory molecular tests on arrival is mandatory for travellers arriving from/transiting through flights originating in the United Kingdom, Europe or the Middle East.
  • It is important for such travellers to give their samples to the designated area before exiting the airport. In case the report is negative, they will be advised to self-monitor their health for 14 days. If the test report is positive, they will undergo treatment as per standard health protocol and the patient will be kept in isolation facility till the sample is tested negative.
  • All the contacts of travellers who test positive to be subjected to institutional quarantine and would be tested on the 7th day or early if they develop symptoms.

What should you remember before boarding?

1) Passengers will be provided a list of dos and dont's along with a ticket by the airlines/agencies concerned.

2) Boarding will be allowed only if you have filled in the self-declaration form online and uploaded the negative RT-PCR test report.

3) Only asymptomatic travellers will be allowed to board the flight after the thermal screening.

4) Remember to download the Aarogya Setu app

5) Suitable precautionary measures such as environmental sanitation and disinfection to ensure at the airports.
