Netaji’s Dream Of Making India Great Incomplete, Have To Work To Fulfil It: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat In Kolkata

The RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat was speaking at an RSS event in Kolkata on the occasion of Parakram Diwas marking the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s dream of making India great is still “incomplete” and that “we all have to work to fulfil it”. The RSS chief was speaking at an RSS event in Kolkata on the occasion of Parakram Diwas marking the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

“Netaji's dream of making India great is incomplete; we all have to work to fulfil it,” he said during the event, reported news agency PTI.

He also said that the entire world is looking up to India for leadership and that “we have to lead by example”.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

“Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recall his unparalleled contribution to India’s history. He will be remembered for his fierce resistance to colonial rule. Deeply influenced by his thoughts, we are working to realise his vision for India,” Modi tweeted.

The ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal, which has been at loggerheads with the BJP over Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose termed RSS’ celebration an “attempt to increase their penetration in Bengal.”

"Celebrating Netaji's birthday like this by the RSS is nothing but an attempt to use it politically to increase their penetration in Bengal. Netaji never liked the ideology of the Sangh, nor has the RSS been able to adopt Netaji's ideology to date. Everyone knows about that incident when Savarkar expressed his desire to meet Netaji in the jail, then Netaji flatly refused," Trinamool spokesperson Jai Prakash Majumdar said.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also mark the occasion and garland Netaji’s statue and different programmes will be organised by the party.
