"Nation Stands Behind Soldiers" Says PM Modi As Oppn Set To Corner Govt In Parliament Over China Border, Falling Economy Today

Monsoon Session 2020: While speaking about the burning issue of border standoff with China, PM Modi praised the Indian Army deployed in eastern Ladakh and lauded the troops for guarding the LAC.

New Delhi: Ahead of the Monsoon Session which is all set to begin amid the Coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed reporters outside Parliament and said that the session is being upheld in unprecedented times. I congratulate & express gratitude to them. This time RS-LS will be held at different times in a day. It'll be held on Saturday-Sunday too. All MPs accepted this," PM Modi said. While speaking about the burning issue of border standoff with China, PM Modi praised the Indian Army deployed in eastern Ladakh and lauded the troops for guarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC). PM Modi also urged the Parliament to speak in a singular voice and stand behind the armed forces in Ladakh. "We want that a vaccine be developed at the earliest from any corner of the world, our scientists succeed and we succeed in bringing everyone out of this problem," PM Modi said while speaking about the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile the Parliament session has begun and Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and K Suresh have given Adjournment Motion notice in Lok Sabha over Chinese incursion in Eastern Ladakh. Mentioning that the period of the Budget session of Parliament was curtailed in March due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister said this Monsoon Session is being organised in a specific environment with all necessary health precautions to contain the spread of the disease which so far has infected 47,54,357 people across the country. "No relaxations until the Covid-19 vaccine comes," Modi said. Speaking to the media before the Lok Sabha started, the Prime Minister congratulated all lawmakers for participating in the Monsoon Session amid Covid crisis and advised them to take precautions until the vaccine comes. "In the Monsoon Session, all MPs will give a message through Parliament that they are with the brave soldiers of our forces," PM Modi added. Of the two Houses, the Lok Sabha will hold its first day proceedings on Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the Rajya Sabha will sit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
