Mohammad Kaif lashes out at Pakistan PM Imran Khan over 'minority treatment' remark

Mohammad Kaif took a dig at Imran Khan questioning the treatment meted out to minority communities in Pakistan. He said Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities.

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has lashed out at Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for his comment in which he said he will "show" the Narendra Modi government "how to treat minorities". Kaif took a dig at Khan questioning the treatment meted out to minority communities in the neighbouring country. He said Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities. Kaif also pointed towards the drastic decline in minority population in Pakistan. "There were around 20% minorities at the time of Partition in Pakistan, less than 2% remain now. On the other hand minority population has grown significantly in India since Independence. Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities," Kaif wrote on Twitter. Imran Khan, while referring to actor Naseeruddin Shah's remarks on mob violence in India, had said, "We will show the Modi government how to treat minorities. Even in India, people are saying that minorities are not being treated as equal citizens." Naseeruddin Shah had expressed concern over "intolerance" in the country while referring to the killing of a policeman in a mob violence, triggered by alleged cow slaughter, in Bulandshahr earlier this month. In hard-hitting remarks against Pakistan, Owaisi on Sunday said that Pakistan should learn from India which has seen multiple Presidents from oppressed communities whereas in the neighbouring country only a Muslim can become a President.
