WATCH: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi Opens Up About Why He Always Wears White T-shirt

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi answered why he is always seen wearing white T-shirts as since the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Gandhi's 'trademark' has been the white T-shirt

In a recently released video on Congress's social media platforms, Rahul Gandhi sheds light on his consistent sartorial choice of a white T-shirt, attributing it to "transparency" and "simplicity". The over two-minute-long video titled "A day campaigning in Karnataka. Some light rapid fire questions and some very illustrious company" captures Gandhi's candid reflections, including his views on ideology.

During the engaging conversation, Gandhi candidly shares his perspective on political campaigns, expressing a desire for simplicity. "I just don't care much about clothes. I prefer it (to be) simple," he remarks. When asked about the best part of running for office, Gandhi responds with a touch of humour, "When it ends!"

"In my view, you cannot proceed as a large organisation towards power without a clear understanding of ideology. We have to persuade people with our ideology, which is pro-poor, pro-women, plural, treating everybody equally," Gandhi elucidated. "So the struggle, at an organisational level and on a national scale, always revolves around ideology," he added.

Since the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Gandhi's 'trademark' has been the white T-shirt, a choice he attributes to "transparency, simplicity, and [not caring] much about clothes".

Lok Sabha Elections: Mallikarjun Kharge, Siddaramaiah Highlight Importance Of Ideology

Gandhi also offers insights into the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, clarifying that it wasn't merely a campaign but rather entailed rigorous groundwork, spanning 70 days of travel.

The video also features Congress stalwart Mallikarjun Kharge, whom Gandhi consults for feedback on the ongoing campaign. Kharge, lauds the endeavour, and remarks, "There is nothing bad. It's good because we are doing this for the country. The one who is spoiling the country, when we work to stop them, we feel good. At least we are doing something for the country."

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also appears speaking about the importance of ideology over power, "You have to place before the people the ideology of the party... Then only people will definitely appreciate our stand."

Kharge added, "Power comes and goes but staying true to ideology is a bigger thing. Our leaders have sacrificed for it."
