Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Clears Air Over Lockdown Extension, Says 'No Such Plans'

As per the latest updates, the national capital has now registered as many as 41,182 Covid-19 cases. Of these, more than 15,000 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

New Delhi: With the surging number of Coronavirus cases in the national capital, many people are speculating whether another lockdown will be enforced in Delhi. A lot of messages are going viral on social media that lockdown will extend from 18th June. However, clearing the air, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that there are no such plans. "Many people are speculating whether another lockdown in Delhi is being planned. There are no such plans," Arvind Kejriwal tweeted. Delhi witnessed a growth of 2,224 cases in last 24 hours with 56 deaths taking the total number of fatalities in the national capital to 1,327. As per the latest updates, the national capital has now registered as many as 41,182 Covid-19 cases. Of these, more than 15,000 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. Earlier  today, the Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani also quashed the rumors over lockdown extension and  announced that the government has no plans to impose another lockdown in the state. Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackrey said in a report by Times of India, “News such as these create confusion in society, forwarding and posting these kinds of false reports on social media is a crime.” Data from the Ministry of health and family affairs show that at present, the total number of cases in India has reached 332424 with 1,53,106 active cases and 9,520 fatalities. Globally India has become the fourth most affected by a Coronavirus and stands Russia which has 5,28,267 cases.
