LIVE: 5 states to vote between February 4 and March 8, counting of votes on March 11
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa will pick new assemblies between February 4 and March 8 in the biggest popularity test since the Lok Sabha polls of 2014.
The results from all the states will be known on March 11, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said on Wednesday while unveiling a slew of new election-related rules.

Uttar Pradesh Elections:
- Uttar Pradesh elections to take place in 7 phases
- Phase 1 has 73 constituencies, and the date of poll for phase 1 will be February 11
- Phase 2 has 67 constituencies and the date of poll in the same is February 15
- Phase 3 has 29 constituencies and the polling would take place on February 19
- In phase 4, there will be 63 constituencies and the date of polls will be Feb 23
- In phase 5, the date of notification would be February 2, 2017 and the election would take place on February 27
- In Phase 6, the date of notification would be Feb 5 and the date of polls will be March 4
- In Phase 7, which has 40 constituencies; the date of polls will be March 8

- The Election would take place in 40 constituencies in a single phase
- The Date of notification for the same would be January 11
- The scrutiny of nomination to take place on Jan 19

- The election in Punjab would take place in 117 constituencies
- The date of notification for the same would be January 11
- The last date of filing nomination: Jan 18
- The scrutiny of nomination on Jan 19

- Last date to file nomination is Jan 27

- 60 million voters to participate in the elections: EC
- 100% have election cards, the voter cards for new voters are also being provided
- Colourful voter guides will be distributed which will have date and time of polling and do's and don'ts for voters
- Separate polling stations for women and all women managed polling stations will be set up
- Photo on nomination paper necessary for candidates
- Expenditure done by political parties beyond RS 20 thousand will have to be done via cheques only says Election Commission
- Electoral Rolls for Goa will be published on Jan 5, for Manipur on Jan 12, Punjab on Janu 5, Uttarakhand on Jan 10 and Uttar Pradesh on Jan 12: EC.
