PM Modi & Telangana CM Offer Greetings On State Formation Day; Know The Significance & History
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao claimed that Telangana State has excelled in all the sectors within a short span of seven years.
Hyderabad:The state of Telangana marks its 7th Formation Day on June 2nd. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, while greeting the people, said 'with many battles, sacrifices, martyrdom, we have achieved the Telangana State in a parliamentary democratic way'.
The struggle to create Telangana separate state has been going on since 1955.

History of Telangana formation
In 1953, the the States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) was appointed to form states based on languages. An agreement was reached between Telangana leaders and Andhra leaders on 20 February 1956 to merge Telangana and Andhra with promises to safeguard Telangana's interests. Telangana was merged with Andhra on November 1, 1956, by carving it out of erstwhile Madras to form a united state for the Telugu-speaking population creating Andhra Pradesh. There have been several movements to revoke the merger of Telangana and Andhra, major ones occurring in 1969, 1972, and 2009.
The Congress Working Committee unanimously passed a resolution to recommend the formation of a separate Telangana state in 2013. After various stages the bill was placed in the Parliament of India in February 2014 which led to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 bill to be passed by the Parliament of India for the formation of Telangana state comprising ten districts. Hyderabad was envisaged as the common capital then.
The state of Telangana was officially formed on 2nd June 2014. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao was elected as the first chief minister of Telangana, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party secured majority votes.
Significance of the day
After almost 57 years of struggle, Telangana was finally recognized as a separate state. June 2nd signifies the victory of the Telangana Movement which forced the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. This not only gave a separate identity to the people of the region but also changed India’s map.

Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan in her message, said the formation of the Telangana State in 2014 fulfilled the aspirations of the people, who waged relentless agitations and umpteen sacrifices, to realize the long cherished goal of having their own State to prosper and to protect and promote their own unique identify.
"I am delighted to note that the youngest State of the country has made rapid strides in heralding a new dawn by ushering in a series of welfare and development initiatives," she said. according to IANS. She futher said, "I am confident that with the inspired resilience of people, government, and the administration at all levels, soon we shall overcome this Covid-19 pandemic crisis."
Meanwhile, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao claimed that Telangana State has excelled in all the sectors within a short span of seven years.
"The Telangana state is fulfilling the demands of the Separate Telangana statehood movement one by one. Water for the irrigation and drinking, power, medical and Health, Roads and all other infrastructure facilities are being provided, reaching short term and long term aims," the CM said according to IANS. Rao further said that he felt proud to announce that, the newly formed 29th Telangana state had achieved and had made rapid strides in development and welfare sectors and became role model for the other states, country as well.
"Though there is a great economic loss incurred by the Corona pandemic, with the people's support the state is marching forward," he said. He said he would not rest till with the people's support he makes the Telangana State a 'Bangaru Telangana' or golden State.
