Dumka Girl Death: CM Says Accused Will Be Given Strictest Punishment, Munda Seeks Special Task Force
In the Dumka region of Jharkhand, a girl who was reportedly set on fire by someone after she rejected his proposal died on Sunday.
New Delhi: Politics has intensified after the death of a woman, who was allegedly set on fire by a person in Jharkhand. Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday said that the accused will be given the strictest punishment. "A lot of evil acts are being seen in society. This incident is heart-wrenching & the law is taking its course. The accused has been arrested. It is our effort to see that he is punished at the earliest," said CM Soren.

"Such people should not be forgiven, they should be given the strictest of punishments. Laws should be brought in to further strengthen the existing laws for such incidents: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on the death of a girl after being set ablaze in Dumka," he added.
In the Dumka region of Jharkhand, a girl who was reportedly set on fire by someone after she rejected his proposal died on Sunday from her burn wounds. The accused, according to the police, was taken into custody on August 23, news agency ANI reported.
However, Naeem alias Chhotu Khan, the second accused in the Ankita murder case, has been arrested. After presenting the accused in Dumka court, he was sent to jail, said Dumka SP Amber Lakra confirmed, as reported by ANI.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda also demand that the State Govt constitute a Special Task Force that will file chargesheet on time, as reported by news agency ANI. "Who's responsible for such incidents? Were appropriate measures taken to save the victim? How will the accused be punished? State Govt should respond. To maintain people's trust they should issue a statement," said Munda to ANI, on the death of a girl after being set ablaze in Dumka.
"I demand that the State Govt constitute a Special Task Force that will file chargesheet on time and judgement comes on time so that people trust the law and that there will be justice. State Govt will have to ensure it," he added.

Ankita Kumari, a class 12 girl, was initially taken to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in Dumka in severe condition. She was thereafter referred to Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for further treatment.
“In a bid to maintain law and order, Section-144 CrPC has been imposed in Dumka sub-division. The gathering of five and more people in one place is prohibited. Rally, demonstration, and procession are not allowed without prior permission,” Sub-divisional officer (SDO) Maheswar Mahto said.
“The woman succumbed to burn injuries during treatment at RIMS, Ranchi, around 2.30 am on Sunday,” Dumka town police station in-charge Nitish Kumar told PTI.
Accused Shahrukh had doused her in gasoline and set her ablaze. She was set on fire as a result of unrequited love.
