Jagan Reddy Richest Chief Minister, Only Mamata Banerjee Not A Crorepati Among 30 CMs: ADR

Out of the 30 CMs analysed, 29 (97 per cent) are crorepatis with the average assets being Rs 33.96 crore for every CM, the ADR said.

Andhra Pradesh's Jagan Mohan Reddy has the highest assest out of the lot.

A recent analysis of poll affidavits by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has revealed that 29 out of India's 30 current chief ministers are crorepatis (i.e. have assets worth at least Rs 1 crore). The ADR arrived at this conclusion after examining the self-sworn poll affidavits of all 30 incumbent chief ministers of states and union territories.

The average assets of these 29 crorepatis are coming at around Rs 33.96 crores. Andhra Pradesh's Jagan Mohan Reddy is the richest chief minister with assets totalling around Rs 510 crores. The ADR found that the lowest total assets belonged to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with approximately Rs 15 lakh.

The top three chief ministers in terms of assets are Andhra Pradesh's Jagan Mohan Reddy, Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu, with assets worth over Rs 163 crores, and Odisha's Naveen Pattnaik having assets worth over Rs 63 crores. 

The lowest declared assets belonged to West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee at around Rs 15 lakhs followed by Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan with just over Rs 1 crore, and Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar having assets worth Rs 1 crore, the ADR said. 

The report also revealed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal own assets worth over Rs 3 crore.

The report also revealed that 43% of the chief ministers have declared serious criminal cases including those related to murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation. 

Regarding gender, 29 of the chief ministers are male, and only one is female. In terms of education, 30% have completed their post-graduation, and only one out of thirty had completed a diploma, the ADR stated in its report.

It is important to note that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir does not currently have a chief minister.
