ITBP Jawan Shoots 5 Colleagues Dead With Service Weapon In Chhattisgarh, Later Kills Self: Reports

The incident took place at the Kadenar camp of ITBP's 45thbattalion in Narayanpur, located around 350 km from capital Raipur.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh): Five personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were killed by their colleague at a camp in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Wednesday. Reports say three other jawans were also shot at are being flown to Raipur for medical treatment in a helicopter. They are said to be in serious condition. The incident took place at the Kadenar camp of ITBP's 45thbattalion in Narayanpur, located around 350 km from capital Raipur. Speaking to ABP News Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said, the ITBP jawan who fired at his colleagues is also dead. The jawan has been identified as Constable Musudul Rehman of 45 Battalion ITBP. Those killed have been identified as: 01)Head Constable Mahendra Singh, Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh 02)Head Constable Daljit Singh, Ludhiana, Punjab 03)Constable Surjit Sarkar, Burdwan, West Bengal 04) Constable Biswaroop Mahtoo,Purulia, West Bengal 05) Constable Bijeesh, Kozhikode, Kerala Sundarraj said the jawan did not hold any kind of animosity towards his colleagues, or seemed under distress, adding "the incident is being investigated". It is, however, not clear whether Rehman shot killed himself or died while being neutralized. Certain reports claim he shot himself dead after gunning down his colleagues. Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg has rushed to the spot.
