Three Indians From Punjab Missing In Iran, Embassy Says 'Keeping Family Members Updated'

Three Indian nationals, Hushanpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh, and Amritpal Singh, went missing in Iran on May 1st after arriving from Punjab.

Three Indian nationals from Punjab have gone missing in Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran confirmed on Wednesday. The embassy said it is making urgent efforts to locate them.

The three missing men have been identified as: Hushanpreet Singh (Sangrur), Jaspal Singh (SBS Nagar), and Amritpal Singh (Hoshiarpur). They all went missing on May 1, shortly after landing in Tehran, as per the NDTV report.

In a statement released by the Indian Embassy in Tehran confirmed that the matter has been taken up with the Iranian authorities, demanding urgency to trace and ensure safety.

"Family members of 3 Indian citizens have informed the Embassy of India that their relatives are missing after having travelled to Iran. The Embassy has strongly taken up this matter with the Iranian authorities, and requested that the missing Indians should be urgently traced and their safety should be ensured," the Indian Embassy said.

The Embassy also noted that it is providing regular updates to the families regarding ongoing efforts to trace their whereabouts.

Kids Of An Indian Couple Go Missing In US

At least three people were killed and nine remain missing after a boat capsized near Torrey Pines State Beach off San Diego’s coast in the United States. The missing include two Indian children as well, the consulate general of India in San Francisco said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). 

The incident took place early Monday (May 5, 2025) when a small panga-style boat capsized off the California coast. While the Indian couple affected by the incident is currently receiving treatment at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, their children remain missing. 

The Consulate General of India in San Francisco issued a statement on the social media platform X, confirming the involvement of the Indian family.

"We are very sad to know about the tragic incident of a boat capsizing near Torrey Pines State Beach, off the coast near San Diego, California, this morning. As per available information, three people died, nine went missing, and four were injured in the incident. An Indian family is also affected in this tragedy,” the consulate wrote.
