India Records 7,145 Cases Of Covid-19 In Last 24 Hours. Active Caseload Stands At 84,565, Lowest In 569 Days
24 new cases of Covid-19 with Omicron variant were recorded on Friday making it the highest single day rise in the country.
New Delhi: 7,145 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in India in the last 24 hours. While 8,706 people recovered from the infection, 289 people succumbed to the infection. Active caseload stood at 84,565 which was lowest in 569 days. A total of 12,45,402 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Number of vaccination doses in the country rose 62,06,244 taking the cumulative number to 1,36,66,05,173.
Active cases were at 0.24 percent which accounted for less than 1 percent of the total cases and has been lowest since March 2020. Whereas the recovery rate was currently at 98.3 percent 98.38 percent which was highest since March 2020.
Daily positivity rate was at 0.57 percent which was less than 2 percent for the last 75 days while weekly positivity rate was 0.62 percent and was less than 1 percent for the last 34 days, according to the official press release by Health Ministry.

Cases of Covid-19 with Omicron variant rose to 111 in nearly two weeks after the first Omicron variant case was reported from Karnataka. 24 new cases of Covid-19 with Omicron variant were recorded on Friday making it the highest single day rise in the country.
Maharashtra reported 40 cases while Delhi (22), Rajasthan (17), Karnataka (8), Telangana (8), Gujarat (5), Kerala (7), Andhra Pradesh (1), Chandigarh (1), Tamil Nadu (1), and West Bengal (1) as reported by PTI.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has urged the people to avoid non essential and mass gatherings and to observe low intensity festivities.
