Heavy Rains Bring Mercury Down In MP, IMD Issues Orange Alert With Hailstorm Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘orange’ alert for MP with forecast for hailstorms.

People in some regions of Madhya Pradesh woke up to a rainy morning after some places received heavy showers in the last 24 hours, reported PTI. The rainfall brought a nip in the air as the mercury came down by a few notches, turning the day weather slightly cold.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange’ alert for the central state. The weather department has forecast hailstorms, gusty winds at the speed of 30 to 40 km per hour and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places of west and east MP on Monday.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Jhabua district with 110.3 millimetre rainfall while Barwani district recorded 109 mm downpour in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am Monday, as per the PTI report.
