- During the G20 Presidency, India will host 300 meetings at 32 different sectors at various locations across the country. - President Droupadi Murmu also extended her best wishes on India assuming the G20 Presidency. “India assumes the Presidency of G20 today. On this occasion, I extend my best wishes to #TeamIndia for a successful Presidency under the theme Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. In the time-honoured tradition of Atithi Devo Bhava, I welcome all the delegates to India,” she tweeted.
- In the blog post, the Prime Minister wrote that the previous 17 presidencies of the G20 delivered significant results — for ensuring macro-economic stability, rationalising international taxation, relieving debt-burden on countries, among many other outcomes. We will benefit from these achievements, and build further upon them.

- However, as the country assumes the presidency, PM Modi raised a question, “Can the G20 go further still? Can we catalyse a fundamental mindset shift, to benefit humanity as a whole?” “I believe we can,” he added.
- Quoting India’s theme for the premier forum for international economic cooperation, 'One Earth, One Family, One Future', PM Modi said India's G20 Presidency will work to promote this universal sense of one-ness.
- Starting today, 100 monuments across the country, including UNESCO world heritage sites, will be illuminated highlighting the G20 logo for a week.
- The G20 Presidency was handed over to India at the closing ceremony of Bali G20 Summit 2023 in Indonesia held on November 15 and 16 this year.
- The Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies which represent around 85 per cent of the global GDP, over 75 per cent of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.
- The Group of G20 (G20) comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States along with the European Union.
