Eknath Shinde-Led Faction Allotted Shiv Sena Office In Parliament: Lok Sabha Secretariat

The Lok Sabha Secretariat acknowledged this in response to a letter from the Parliamentary party leader, Rahul Shewale.

After the Election Commission (EC) has awarded the 'Shiv Sena' name and emblem to the leading wing of the party led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the party has now been assigned an office in Parliament, news agency ANI reported.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat acknowledged this in response to a letter from the Parliamentary party leader, Rahul Shewale.

"Room No. 128, Parliament House has been allotted to the Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party for the office of the Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party," he was quoted by ANI in its report.

Last Friday, the EC gave the intensely fought 'Shiv Sena' name and insignia to the Shinde side, eliciting cries of outrage from the opposing camp.

Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackray, who leads the opposing camp, accused the EC of acting at the request of the BJP at the Centre and petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the poll panel's decision.

Shinde sparked a schism in the Sena last year when he formed a rebel front with a group of loyalists (sitting MLAs, MPs, and leaders).

The preceding Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was finally brought down by the uprising.

SC Will Hear Plea Against EC Decision On Shiv Sena Symbol Tomorrow

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear Uddhav Thackeray's petition contesting the Election Commission's decision to grant the name "Shiv Sena" and the "Bow and Arrow" emblem to the group led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The panel, chaired by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, consented to hear the petition on February 22 at 3.30 p.m. Senior Counsel Kapil Sibal requested the Supreme Court to consider the petition on Wednesday, claiming that if the EC ruling is not disputed and challenged, the other group will seize control of everything, including the party's bank accounts.

CJI Chandrachud said: "It will not disrupt the Constitution Bench hearing because three judges are waiting for them."

He stated that he will end the Constitution Bench hearing on the Maharashtra political crisis on Wednesday and then take up the case opposing the EC's verdict on the Sena emblem.
