Donald Trump To Meet Modi? Here's What Former US President Says Ahead Of PM's Visit

Former US President Trump will meet Prime Minister Modi during Modi's visit to the US for the QUAD Leader Summit, said the Republican leader.

Former US President Donald Trump will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his trip to the United States later this week, said the Republican candidate on Tuesday.

Speaking at a campaign event in Michigan, Trump called Modi "fantastic", however, he criticised India as a "very big abuser" of the US-India trade relationship, reported Reuters.

The two leaders enjoyed warm relations while Trump was the President of the United States. In 2020, Modi held a huge rally in Ahmedabad during Trump's visit to India. People at the rally wore "Namaste Trump" hats to welcome the Republican leader.

PM Modi will visit the US on September 21 for the QUAD Leader Summit in Delaware, being hosted by US President Joe Biden. He will also address the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23. The theme of the summit — which is expected to be attended by a large number of global leaders — is ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’.

Besides Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will also attend the summit. Notably, this will be the last summit for Biden and Kishida as the US President withdrew from the presidential race while the Japanese PM announced to step down as his party's premier.

To foster greater collaboration in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and biotechnology, Modi would meet and interact with CEOs of leading US-based companies.
