Delhi: Mobile Phone Of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's Wife Snatched Outside FICCI Auditorium

New Delhi: There's been an alarming rise in mobile snatching cases in the national capital. On Sunday night, two bike-borne miscreants snatched the mobile phone of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's wife near Mandi House. The incident occurred in front of FICCI auditorium after Aparna Mehta came out attending an event, police said. According to the police, Aparna had stepped out on the road when she was targeted. "We are checking the CCTV footage. The complainant told us that there was no number plate on the bike. And she was not able to see their faces," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by news agency IANS. It is not known whether Tushar Mehta was beside his wife when the incident occurred. Who is Tushar Mehta? Tushar Mehta is a senior advocate currently representing the central government in Supreme Court in cases related to abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also represented the Centre in several high profile cases like 2G scam case, Aircel-Maxis case, challenge to Section 66A of Information Technology Act, and the arrest of activists in the Bhima Koregaon case. Tushar Mehta moved to Delhi in October 2018 after the Narendra Modi government named him the Additional Solicitor General. Mehta will hold office till June 30 2020. The post of Solicitor General of India is the second-highest rank for a law officer of the government.
