Delhi: Nine-year-old boy dies after falling into pit filled with rainwater in a DDA park

New Delhi: A nine-year-old boy fell into a pit after a game of cricket in a DDA park located at Avantika, Rohini, here in the national capital. When Abdul Khalid fell into the pit, his scared friends went back home, without telling anyone about the incident and by the time his family found him, Abdul was dead. When the boy did not return home for iftar, the family feared something wrong. He had gone to play cricket along with three of his friends and fell into the pit filled with rainwater, the police said. Mohammed Mumtaz, Abdul's maternal uncle said the boy went out every day to play cricket during his summer holidays. As per reports, Abdul, after playing cricket, wanted to rinse his mud-splattered clothes in the pit of water when he slipped and fell into it. Nine to ten feet deep pit had been dug for dumping leaves for decomposition, but had not covered, leading to rainwater collecting inside, cops said.
