Delhi 6-Day Lockdown: What's Open And What Will Remain Shut?

Delhi government has announced a 6-day long lockdown till next Monday as the national capital continues to witness record number of cases.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a 6-day lockdown in the national capital to curb the spread of Coronavirus as the positivity rate of the city has plummeted to 30% which means every third person in Delhi is covid positive. CM Kejriwal made the announcement after an intense discussion with L-G Anil Baijal.

 The Delhi CM said that all private offices will Work From Home for the coming 6 days and government offices will be open. Essential services will be exempted from the restrictions.

What's Open And Closed During 6-day lockdown In Delhi

  • CM Kejriwal said that all restaurants, auditoriums, restaurants, malls, gyms will remain shut during the 6 day Delhi Lockdown'
  • Public transport like Delhi Metro and buses will operate with 50% capacity.
  • All spas and Salons closed
  • No Public gatherings social, political, religious will be permitted
  • Wedding ceremonies can be organized with a guest capacity of 50. An e-pass will be issued regarding the same on submitting the wedding invitation card in soft or hard copy.
  • 20 people can participate in the last rites and cremation services.
  • Stadiums can organize national and international events without spectators.
  • Bars and liquor shops will remain closed during the 6 day lockdown period.
  • Students will be allowed to appear for exams with a valid I-Card.
  • All inter/Intra transport of goods is permitted. No separate e-pass will be required for the same
  • Private security services, manufacturing units for essential commodities, manufacturing units of non-essential commodities having onsite workers, production units which require continuous process can stay open, home delivery of food from restaurants, Cold storage and warehousing services have been exempted from curfew restrictions.

  • AIIMS to suspend functioning of OPD services & all routine hospitalisation including elective surgeries.

  • E commerce delivering essentials like groceries, medicines, and food also allowed to function during the week-long lockdown.

  • People associated with telecom, internet, cable services, IT, and IT-enabled services will be exempted from restrictions.

  • Religious places will be allowed to remain open but no visitors shall be allowed.

  • Banks, ATMs, Insurance and SEBI, stocks related offices to be exempted from lockdown rules, including all shops that sell essential goods like food, groceries, vegetables, milk, meat, medicines, opticians, newspapers.

As soon as the news of lockdown broke, people queued up outside liquor shops flouting all Covid guidelines

 Delhi on Sunday logged the biggest jump in its daily Covid-19 tally with 25,462 fresh cases, while 161 people died due to the disease in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate also shot up to 29.74 per cent. Around 20,159 people have recovered from the infection. There are a total of 74,941 active cases in the national capital and the death toll jumped to 12,121.
