'Part Of My Home & Family, Will Always Be There For You': Rahul Gandhi Pens Heartfelt Letter For Wayanad
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi penned a heartfelt letter for the people of Wayanad, days after choosing to retain Rae Bareli seat.
Days after the Congress announced its decision that Rahul Gandhi would retain Raebareli seat and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will contest the Wayand bypoll, the Congress leader and former Wayanad MP, on Sunday, wrote a heartfelt letter addressing the people of the Kerala constituency he represented from 2019-2024. Rahul Gandhi had to decide between the two seats after he contested and won Lok Sabha polls from both Raebareli and Wayanad.
Addressing the people of Wayanad as sister and brothers, Rahul Gandhi stated expressed his sadness that he had to make the decision of giving up Wayanad seat. At the same time, he also said that that he was consoled as his sister Priyanka Gandhi would contest in the bypoll from Wayanad.
He recalled how he went to Wayand five years ago, seeking support, after the BJP wrested both the strong bastions of Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Rae Bareli and Amethi.
"I was a stranger to you and yet you believed in me. You embraced me with unbridled love and affection. It didn’t matter which political formation you supported, it didn’t matter which community you were from or which religion you believed in or which language you spoke," he wrote.
'Priyanka Will Be There To Represent You'
Assuring the people of Wayanad that Priyanka Gandhi would do an "excellent job" if voted to power, Rahul Gandhi further wrote: "It was truly a joy and an honour to be your voice in Parliament. I am sad, but I am consoled because my sister Priyanka will be there to represent you. I am confident that she will do an excellent job of being your MP if you decide to give her the opportunity."
