'Govt Clueless, PM Has Left Ministers to Bluff': Chidambaram In First Presser After Walking Out Of Tihar
Former Union Minister P Chidambaram walked out of Tihar jail on Wednesday after spending 106 days in jail. He was given bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case linked to the INX Media.
New Delhi: In his first presser after coming out of Tihar jail, former finance minister P Chidambaram belaboured the Modi government over the state of economy, alleging the government was wrong because it was “clueless”.
Chidamabaram said the BJP government believed problems faced by the economy were cyclical even after seven months of this financial year. "The government is clueless on economy, it is stubborn and mulish in defending catastrophic mistakes like demonetisation, flawed GST, tax terrorism.
Chidambaram aspersed the ministers of PM Narendra Modi saying he has left them to indulge in bluff and bluster. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unusually silent on the state of economy and had left his ministers to indulge in bluff and bluster. The economy can be brought out of slowdown, but this government incapable of doing that".
Earlier this morning, the Rajya Sabha member reached Parliament and expressed his concern that voices are being "suppressed" by the government. "I am worried. Our voices are being suppressed," Chidambaram told reporters.
Responding to a question by ABP News at the Parliament premises, Chidambaram said "under the present government, the economy of the country has suffered and inflation is on rise; this government needs to go".
Chidambaram was released on Wednesday after spending 106 days in jail. He was granted a bail by the Supreme Court.
