In Poll-Bound Bihar, PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone Of 7 Urban Infra Projects Worth Rs 541 Crores

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 7 urban infrastructure project in Bihar today via video conferencing. The projects are worth Rs 541 crore.

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 7 urban infrastructure projects worth Rs 541 crore, today, in the poll-bound Bihar. The ceremony will take place via video conference and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also be present at the occasion. ALSO READ | Monsoon Session: Amid Oppn Uproar, Rajnath Singh To Address Parliament On India-China Border Row Today According to the official statement by the PMO, "Out of these, four projects are related to water supply, two to sewerage treatment and one to riverfront development. The total cost of these projects is Rs 541 crore." The statement says that the implementation of these projects will be has been undertaken by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) under Urban Development and Housing Department of Bihar. The projects that will be inaugurated include: i) Sewerage treatment plants built under Namami Gange, at Beur and Karmalichak, in Patna Municipal Corporation ii) Water supply projects built under AMRUT Mission in Siwan Municipal Council and Chapra Municipal Corporation iii) The foundation stone of Munger water supply scheme under AMRUT Mission iv) The foundation stone of Muzaffarpur Riverfront Development Scheme, to be built under Namami Gange ALSO READ | India Overtakes Brazil, US To Record Highest Number Of Covid-19 Recoveries In The World The sewerage and water supply projects will provide water pipelines and pure drinking water 24 hours a day to local residents. While under the riverfront project three ghats of Muzaffarpur (Poorvi Akhada Ghat, Seedhi Ghat and Chandwara Ghat) will be developed in order to boost tourism in the state. Basic facilities such as toilets, security arrangements, information kiosk, changing rooms, proper lighting, watchtower, etc will be made available. On Saturday, the Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh also visited the airports at Darbhanga and Deoghar to review the ongoing development work there. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing these airports. With their operationalisation, air connectivity of the region will be improved, the Civil Aviation Ministry had informed in a statement earlier. While the dates are not confirmed it is expected that the elections in the state will take place towards the end of October or early in November.
