After Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress To Start Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan From Jan 26 With Focus On Elections

'Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan' is an extension of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Congress will start 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' campaign from January 26 to March 26.

New Delhi: The Congress Party's upcoming 'Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan', an extension of Bharat Jodo Yatra, will focus on elections and translate the message of the Rahul Gandhi-led march in political terms, General Secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh said on Friday.

The Congress will start the 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' campaign from January 26 to March 26.

"During this campaign, the party will cover 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, six lakh villages, and 10 lakh polling booths. Women's marches will be held in every state capital," the Congress leader informed.

"Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan' is the extension of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. People had asked the party that political issues are not being raised in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and we had promised there will be a follow-up to it," he added.

Jairam Ramesh further mentioned that the Congress Party's poll symbol did not feature in the Bharat Jodo Yatra logo, but it will have a prominent place in the new logo to be released for the 'Hath Se Hath Jodo' campaign.

"Hath Se Hath Jodo abhiyan will translate the message of Bharat Jodo Yatra in political and election-specific terms," he stressed.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi mentioned 'Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan' in a statement on the Bharat Jodo Yatra which is nearing completion.

"This Yatra has renewed my vigour to fight for each one of you. It has been my Tapasya. I understand that my personal and political journey is one - to give voice to the voiceless, to be the weapon of the weak, to take Inda from dark to light, from hate to love, from suffering to prosperity. I will carry forward the vision and values of those who gave us our extraordinary Constitution," he wrote.

"The Haath se Haath Jodo Abhiyan is our initiative to spread the message of unity and brotherhood. Through this historic Abhiyan, the Congress party is extending its hand to you - lend a hand, come together to put the country back on the path of building a Swarnim Bharat - where every single Indian has an equal chance to fulfil their dreams," he added.

Earlier, former Bihar Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha, who will head the 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' campaign in Delhi, said that the party will reach out to people at block and district levels first in the national capital.

"We will meet various leaders of Congress in Delhi. We will also meet the candidates who lost in recently concluded MCD elections. The campaign will be held at three levels - block, district and state," Jha said, as per news agency PTI.

He informed that foot marches and public meetings will be organised by the party and the campaign will be concluded with a rally by Rahul Gandhi.
