Delhi Police Lodges Case Against Unidentified People Over Vandalism At CM Kejriwal's Residence

A probe into the matter has been launched and teams have been dispatched for arrests, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.

New Delhi: Case was registered against unidentified people by the Delhi Police in connection with alleged vandalism at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Wednesday, reports news agency PTI quoting officials.

The case has been registered under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.

A probe into the matter has been launched and teams have been dispatched for arrests, added Kalsi.

Earlier in the day, BJP workers led by MP Tejasvi Surya held protests outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence for his statement in the Delhi Legislative Assembly last week regarding making the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free in the national capital.

The protests turned violent when the protestors breached the barricading and tried to march forward. The police had to resort to water cannons to stop the protesters, following which Surya was detained.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party wanted to “kill” Kejriwal after its debacle in the Punjab polls.

The Deputy Chief Minister also alleged that members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), youth wing of the BJP, damaged the CCTV cameras and security barriers at the CM’s residence.
