First Meeting Of G20 Employment Working Group Begins In Jodhpur Today:

The first meeting of the G20 Employment Working Group is slated for February 2–4 in Jodhpur, with guest nations including Spain, the Netherlands, and Singapore participating.

Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav briefed the media on the meeting on Monday, news agency PTI reported.

He stated that this year, India would host the prestigious G20 conference, which is the primary forum for world economic cooperation, the report said.

The significance of this event stems from the fact that the G20 countries account for almost 85 per cent of global GDP (gross domestic work), 3/4th of global trade, and around two-thirds of the world population, he added, as stated in the report.

The three thematic areas for discussion include tackling global skill gaps, gig and platform economy and social protection, and sustainable funding of social security.

The discussions are planned to produce a worldwide skill gap mapping platform for assessing skill demand, as well as a framework for skill and qualification harmonisation with common taxonomies.
