27,500 Covid Cases Expected Today. Hospitalisation For Covid Patients Stagnant From 4 Days: Delhi Health Minister

New Delhi: The surge in cases of Covid-19 in Delhi still continues with numbers expected to rise today as well. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that around 27,500 Covid-19 cases are expected to be reported today. “Delhi expected to see around 27,500 COVID-19 cases today.We have got deaths audited & they are mostly among those with comorbidities,” said Jain.
He added that, however, the rate of hospital admission of the Covid patients had been stagnant from the last 4 days, which is a good sign. The Health Minister informed that the bed occupancy is currently 15 percent and the government has no intentions to impose a lockdown in the national capital.

Jain expected that with the rate of hospitalisation stabilising, the national capital could soon witness a downward trend of Covid-19 cases. “COVID-19 cases are going up but hospital admissions are stable,” he said.
On Wednesday also, the national capital reported 27,561 fresh cases of the Covid-19, which was the second highest daily rise of cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
As per the data by the Health Department, Delhi recorded 40 deaths on Wednesday which was highest since June 10, 2021.

The positivity rate in Delhi stood at 26.22 percent which was highest since May 4, when it was 26.7 percent. The number of Covid-19 cases are also at an all time high since April 30 when it was 27,047.
The active caseload of Covid-19 in Delhi currently stands at 87,445 cases out of which 56,991 are cases of home isolation. The health department said that of the 133 Covid related deaths that happened in the first 12 days of January, most of them were comorbid patients.
