Kulfi is believed to have originated in the 16th century Mughal Empire. Mughal chefs were inspired to add aromatic spices like saffron and pistachios to the mix, resulting in a uniquely flavorful treat. They packed the dessert into metal cones and frozen it in a mixture of ice and salt to preserve and transport it to warmer regions. Kulfi was born as a result of this novel method.

Meanwhile, Iran's Bastani Sonnati took the top in Taste Atlas' best-rated frozen desserts. Peru's Queso Helado, Turkey's Dondurma, the United States' Frozen Custard, Filipino ice cream Sorbetes, and the iconic Italian dessert Gelato al Pistachio also made the list.

Previously, when the food guide published a list of the best-rated vegan dishes from around the world, it included seven Indian delicacies.

Misal Pav, finished 11th, and was followed by Aloo Gobi, who finished 20th. Rajma, a popular dish, was ranked 22nd, while Gobi Manchurian was ranked 24th. Masala Vada came in at number 27, while the iconic Bhel Puri came in at number 37. Finally, the comforting Rajma Chawal secured the 41st position.
