Busy In Festive Arrangements, Say Goodbye To Stress With 'One Minute' Yoga Asanas

Yoga is one of the most safe and simple ways to maintain mental and physical health during festival season. Yoga's various approaches can be beneficial to people of all ages.

New Drlhi: Festivals are associated with joy, happiness, and brightness, but by the end of the holiday season, almost everyone is exhausted. Festivals bring with them a lot of excitement and the pressure of meeting those expectations. People are preoccupied with a variety of tasks and activities in order to make festivals more joyful and bright for everyone.

On this day, people all over the country believe that they should prepare and clean their homes and offices in order to welcome positivity. Cleaning the house is a daily chore, but cleaning before Diwali is especially important. According to popular Hindu belief, Goddess Laxmi resides in cleanliness. So, the cleaner your home is, the more likely it is that the deity will bless it. Goddess Laxmi is also known as the wealth goddess. People prepare special foods, sweets, and decorate their homes to commemorate the occasion.

Diwali, also known as Dipawali, is the most important festival in India. The festival takes its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to represent the inner light that keeps them safe from darkness. All of this preparation appears to be easy and stress-free, but in reality, preparing for festivals can be very hectic and cause mental and physical stress, especially for the family's elders.

One of the safest and easiest options to keep mental and physical health in check is yoga. The various approaches that yoga has to offer can benefit people of all ages. Yoga has been dubbed one of the best forms of exercise for senior citizens. Seniors can improve their flexibility and balance, increase their strength, and improve their mood with time and proper guidance.

Here are some tips and one-minute yoga asanas provided by SeniorWorld to help you and your loved ones take care of yourselves during the festive season:

Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY): A pranayama technique is known to be helpful in depression, anxiety and stress. A powerful breathing technique that works on connecting the body and mind through breath. It releases all types of stress - physical, mental and emotional. Regular practice of Sudarshan Kriya can slowly help you to achieve a thought-free state of mind.Sudarshan kriya breathing technique improves the respiratory system, neurological, and circulatory function.

'Corpse Pose': The 'Corpse Pose' or the resting pose is another name for Shavasana. A short yoga session followed by Shavasana is an excellent way to relieve stress. It enhances focus, which improves the elderly's quality of life. While doing this asana, relax all the muscles and nerves. Inhale slowly through both nostrils and retain the breath as long as you can with comfort. Then exhale slowly through both nostrils. Repeat the process 10 times in the morning and 10 times in the evening. One can mentally chant 'Om' during practice. Shavasana also alleviates sleeplessness, which is a frequent chronic condition among the elderly.
