Kochi: Man In Burqa Enters Women's Toilet At Mall, Records Videos
The incident took place on Wednesday at Kochi's Lulu Mall where the accused, working in a leading IT firm based at Infopark in the same city, wore a 'burqa' and entered a women's washroom.
New Delhi: Police arrested a 23-year-old IT professional for entering a women's washroom in a popular mall wearing a burqa and recording videos on his mobile phone in Kerala's Kochi.
The accused, a B.Tech graduate, has been booked under Section 354 (C) (Voyeurism), 419 (Impersonation) of the Indian Penal Code. He has also been booked under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, reported news agency PTI.
Following his arrest, he was presented before a local court which remanded the accused to 14 days in judicial custody, a police official of Kalamassery police station told PTI.
The incident took place on Wednesday at Kochi's Lulu Mall where the accused, working in a leading IT firm based at Infopark in the same city, wore a 'burqa' and entered a women's washroom. He then placed his mobile in the washroom in a small cardboard box, poked a hole in it for the camera to record the visuals, and stuck it to the door of the washroom, police said.
The official added that after placing the box, the suspect came out from there and stood in front of the main door of the washroom.
Mall's security personnel found his activity suspicious and informed the police who rushed to the spot, PTI reported. Police officials then started questioning the accused during which it was revealed that he had disguised himself as a woman and was recording the scenes in the washroom on his mobile phone.
After the interrogation, the burqa and the mobile phone used in the crime were seized he was taken into custody, police said.
According to PTI, the police official said that the team was investigating whether he has carried out such acts in the past anywhere else .
